On February 21 I was looking forward to visiting my old school where I attended elementary classes and where my mom taught second grade for many years. Sadly, this visit was cancelled at the last minute. I did receive a letter of apology from the school librarian and an explanation from the school head, who has invited me for a return visit on my next trip to Midland.

I hopped back in my car and since I had some unexpected free time decided to visit an incredible library & museum about the Old West--The Haley Memorial Library & History Center in Midland. What a hidden jewel, filled with the most important Western history books, many original printings, art work and the most amazing collection of spurs I've ever seen. I've attached photos of a few of the items in the collection. I'll definitely be back to visit this brilliant place of scholarship.
