On February 27th I visited The Village School in Houston. The fabulous Wendi Thibodeaux, Elementary Curriculum Specialist, was my host, and I was so warmly welcomed by teachers, 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders over three different sessions in the school's gorgeous library. Take a look at the first picture on this page to get an idea of how important reading is to the children at The Village School. This statue sits in the main courtyard of the school--I was immediately struck by it's simple lesson: reading by children is beautiful and timeless.
